Okay, so I work for a company that does a service for retailers, and while I was on a lunch break, I got this brilliant idea to take a few tokes. I know, smarth thinking, huh? Well anyways, I proceeded to take a few hits from my pipe. Long story short, I was caught on tape by the security via cameras in the parking lot. They inform my manager and asked for me to leave the premises, so I did. Surprisingly my manager was way cool about it. Meanwhile, the incident was reported to my District Manager and heres where I'm stuck. My D.M. asked me to write him a statement of the incident. But here's the tricky part, and these are his words exactly, " I'm not telling you to admit to anything or to not admit to it. I'm going to leave that up to you to figure out." And basically as soon as I give this statement or letter of apology ( not really sure which route to take) they can put me back on the work scheduale. I'M IN DESPERATE NEED OF SOME GOOD ADVICE/TIPS ON HOW I SHOULD GO ABOUT THIS.

I'm sorry for you.
They will not place you back on the work schedule.
Do not think they will.
What you did is illegal. Period.
They cannot place you back into work.
Even if the DM smokes himself and understands.
Do not admit to anything.
Write ASAP a really good letter resigning from your position and explain how grateful you are for the experiences you learned while employed there.
Now...change gears and get over it.
You will not be able to use this job as a reference.
You will have to locate another job without using this last one.
It's ok, you have grown very much from this lesson.
Go on from here and enjoy your life.
Good luck to you!

Obviously you really screwed up, but if you are sincere about making a change your DM may be able to give you a second chance. Accept responsibility but don't go into too much detail and focus on what you plan to do in the future. I've had this sort of thing happen in the past with my own direct reports and have been willing to give them a second chance when they were not endangering anything but their own careers. Try this:
Sirs,
During my scheduled personal lunch break at I showed a severe lack of judgment. I regret how my personal behavior that day reflected poorly on the company and my co-workers. I take full responsibility for my actions and am truly sorry. I have made a decision to make changes in my personal life in this regard, and you can have full confidence that this sort of incident will never happen again. I value my work with the company and will take steps to ensure that my strong worth ethic will not be tarnished by lapses in judgment such as what occurred at lunch that day.
Please pass on my sincerest apologies to anyone that was affected by this incident. I am hopeful that I will be allowed to demonstrate my renewed dedication to my job, whether on or off the clock. Given the opportunity, I'm sure we can all quickly move forward.
Sincerely,

Well a real pickle for sure, First off i would not mention the act itself in the letter, an admission of guilt can be sent to law enforcement and so on. I would write something along the lines of expressing my regret for inappropriate behavior outside the work place. That you understand that in fact it was inappropriate and understand the impact it could have if this behavior was to be seen by a customer.Express how regretful you feel and assure them you have no intention of repeating such behavior.
I hope this helps give you some ideas for your letter.
Have a great weekend!!

Yikes!!! They're looking for documentation to stick in your file. Here's what you do:
1. Convince yourself & them that you're trying to quit smoking, and that as part of that effort, you carry around a pipe & tobacco to make the act of smoking more of a chore to help you quit. It's not like the camera could smell what you had.
2. Admit you were smoking TOBACCO on the job, Apologize, and promise to never bring the pipe or tobacco to work again, and that that will make it even easier for you to quit.
3. Say it was a clove thing, or some exotic smelling tobacco that is totally legal but you figure "smoking at work is bad no matter what it was and eventhough it wasn't anything illegal, it might as well have been because you know you shouldn't have been smoking anything at work at all."
4. Say you threw the pipe away to quit for good.
5. Start a fast de-tox program as soon as you read this (drink lots of water, go for a long walk, sweat, drink orange juice, and try to pass as much liquid through your body as possible).
6. If they say they know it was pot, act a bit surprised & offended and tell them you don't do any drugs at all, and offer to prove that by taking a drug test.
7. By the time they schedule a drug test for you, you should have reduced or eliminated the traces of pot in your system. (see # 5)
8. Write that letter. Say something like: "I realize that smoking at work was wrong, and in the manner I was smoking, I understand that to somebody watching me, it would have appeared that I was smoking something other than tobacco. I made a poor choice in my method to quit smoking and in doing so, I may have unknowingly given the appearance that I was smoking a controlled substance. That thought had never occurred to me and it's for this and the fact that I was smoking at work, that I apologize. As a result of the consequences of my nicotine craving, I will refrain from smoking at work, and I will be more aware of how my actions may appear to others."
Good luck.
P.S.
If you get away with this, and you sense that your co-workers/boss may be out to get you, it might be a good idea to start looking for another job, and maybe... how should I put this... um... it sounds like a stressful job that may cause one to, um... trip and fall at work. So be careful, that might make it look like your slip was intentional just so they couldn't take any unjustified negative action against you or it would look like retaliation for the fall... if you fall. So be careful.
;)

Eye drops are the only thing that work right away. Try visine or murine, and drop the drops into the inner corner of your eye or into your bottom eyelid so it is easier.

Ok, how can they know if you were just smoking tobaco, maybe you are so confused you don't know the difference, if you were smoking tobaco, well that is not against the law. So maybe you were smoking tobaco. If you were smoking tobaco, well,
Dear Mr. Bosses' Boss,
I regret any misunderstandings about my smoking tobaco, I will not smoke on the job again. Sorry for the disruption.
Thanks again for your understanding.
Sincerely,
