i have started my 5 month old on solids, as i felt that she was hungry and her milk wasn't satisfing her hunger. but now the problem that i have is that she only drinks 2 full bottles and want more food, i always offer her milk before her food so she is drinking more of her milk and less of her food... how can i get her to drink more milk? any one else have this problem?

well my doc says to start my son on food at 5 months as well, same issue, he eats a ton. so your not starting him too early.(my daughter was on jar food by four months and she is now 3 and perfect. but i do think you should cut out most solids if he wont take the bottle because that is still real important.

well, its really not recommended to start the solids till they are 6 months anyway, anytime a baby does not want their milk its time to back off the solids. when you say 2 bottles, is that 16 oz total a day? that's not enough, they need at the very least 24 oz every day.
good luck to you and you sweet baby.

Doctor's recommend only formula or breastmilk up until six months. If she is preferring the solids to her formula, cut them out. She cannot get proper nutrition from the solids.

yes, my kids did the same thing. When i worried that they didn't get enough formula (babys naturally love to eat) i would give them baby cereal oatmeal and rice with the baby milk mixed in it.
