No, annulments are decided legally, not in the Church. There are certain legal requirements you have to meet to get an annulment instead of a divorce. Some Catholics get annulments because the Church does not recognize divorce, but the Church itself does not do the annulment. Good Luck.

You dont need to be a catholict to get an anulment. But somehow divorce and anulment are two different things. You file a divorce if the marriage is legal in all aspect and you file an anulment when some of the legal process of marriage is not followed.Like if you are married not on your own will then you can file an annulment. But basically these two is somehow same in the sense that you want to cut the tie bet. you and your husband. good luck

The only use of the word annulment I have heard is in connection with the Catholic Church.
A Catholic who has been married and has gotten a divorce (a civil proceeding) must receive an annulment of their marriage if they want to marry in the Catholic Church.
If a Catholic wishes to marry a non-Catholic Christian who has been married before and got a divorce, the non-Catholic must receive an annulment of the previous marriage because the Catholic Church assumes that marriage was sacramentally valid.

no-there are guidlelines-but there are 2 different kind on annulments-one in the eyes of the government and one in the eyes of the church-if you are catholic you have to do both in order to remarry in a church-Find out what your stateguidlines are but if you have been married for a long time I know you wont be given one.

The catholics think so but they're not above the law if you're already divorced.
