...with divorce incentives for custodial parents (read: 85% women) that allow a parent to profit from raising their children? Middle to upper income obligors pay $30K to $60K/ year to their spouse in child support. This amount of money grossely exceeds what is needed for and is spent on the "children". This is more like an early retirement plan for some and a real divorce incentive for women that are not getting along in their marraige! Where is this "divorce incentive"? I've been divorced for 2 years and have never heard of it. And America doesn't promote family breakup, the inability of certain people to commit to ALL the things that go on in a marriage promote family breakup. My ex-husband filed for divorce on me because he couldn't handle the pressure of being married with 2 kids. And low and behold, he's been married and divorced again since then. I get $500.00 a month child support for 2 children, and believe me, that can't even touch what it takes to raise 2 kids. You obviously do not have children and are on some kind of holy mission to make people feel guilty about their lives. Try getting into a situation that you have no control over and see what happens to you and what you deal with or not. And quit judging those of us who have been through a divorce and receive child support.

Amreica doesnt "promote" family breakup. 30 to 60 K a year is a joke. I have 3 children from my first marriage and for one thing he was abusive, he was a cheat, never lifted a finger to help with the kids, etc. Just because we divorced doesnt mean he shouldnt help shoulder the responsibilities of raising our 3 kids. He sees them about 4 days a year and calls them every couple of months. I have been the one raising them since birth. Do you have children? Do you know what it takes to raise them money wise? Clothing, school needs, doctor, dentists, eye care, shoes, food, shelter, water to name a few. For 3 children I get 800 dollars a month child support and that falls extremely short of 30K let alone 60k so get real.

You have got to be kidding....I am from middle class and I got $7500 per year from my ex husband. Thats IF he pays because he quits a job to go back to school, then gets another job, then quits and goes back to school again. Thank GOD above that I am smart enough NOT to depend on him for money. IF I get it, its a great bonus, but if I don't, I don't care. America DOES NOT support family breakup. I've been through it as a child, with my own children and I would not wish it upon anyone. Its hell. Don't kid yourself

There are men that are receiving child support for their children also. It is not only the women that receive this but the fathers also. Depends on who has custody for most of the time with the children.

what we get paid in child support barely covers the care of the kids. child support means using the money to support the kids. which means keeping a roof over their head, keeping the heat and electric on. keeping food in the fridge. it doesn't mean just using it on clothes and toys. its to be used in anyway to support the children. and i was divorced and had 2 kids and i still couldn't make ends meet. lost my home and everything. so you use it however its to be used to take care of the child. i only got like $430 a month for 2 kids and like i said it wasnt enough to cover anything.

I dont think America promote family breaks ups,but we are a throw away society. If you dont like something get rid of it,if your not happy at home get rid of her. That is how we live today, and it is so wrong.Noone takes the time to works things out anymore. The kids suffer in the end.

nobody promotes family breakup more than the family itself. If both partners would try to find some common ground and stop looking to get divorced because the "argue" to much, society won't be in this predicament and divorce lawyers won't be as rich as they are now.

Have you ever had a child? Raising a child takes a lot more than you'd think. I've never seen a rich single mother, and i'm sure you have'nt either. get over it and get a life.
