That will be a plus along with the Republicans not having a decent nominee.

IF the 2008 elections are less negative, it will be by accident. As a candidate, in order for his/her opponents to show how and why they are unelectable, every skeleton in their closet will be out in the open for everyone to see. Bush's campaign tactics were deplorable - but Americans still voted for him, although no other party, including democrats, offered a better choice. Kerry sat on the fence because to get off the fence it made his plans unworkable.
I think people are really getting sick of the negativity in campaigns and candidates MUST stick to the issues. They must NOT tell the voters that foreign policy ranks number one anymore. It has to be DOMESTIC issues that will either win an election for a candidate or make his/her election lost.

islamfaciest, cut and runners, bed wetters, no I don't think conservative talk radio will let it be an election based on the issues, you can already see the hate for Hillary, Obama and Edwards in here every day, and if these people would drop out and say Richardson from New Mexico were to become a front runner these same people would spew their hate. What we as Americans need to do is disregard this hate and to vote for the person that we think is best to run the business of the country. We need to send a clear message that these hate messages will not work, then maybe we can have clean elections based on the issues. .

your joking right? we have gone from the greatest generation to the Jerry springer generation.
no one cares about debate or an honest exchange of ideas, it is about bad mouthing the other guy and gaining the most "ooooohhhh" points even if you don't win the election.
just look at the questions and answers you see on this site, it is proof enough that civility is almost beyond the grasp of your average person. Even i sink lower than I should, particularly if it something i am passionate about.
Bush leaving office will not change anything, if Republicans win the democrats will go after them with both barrels because it distracts from the work he or she may do.
If Democrats win they will gloat and harangue Republicans and the republicans will pick the president apart for every thing they do.
it is becoming a nightmarish spiral of idiotic and childish behavior.
its sad when I see little kids acting more mature than grown adults talking politics.

No, it will most likely be dirtier, especially if the Iraq War is still going on. If McCain gets the Repub nomination, he will be defending Bush's war record as the party's standard bearer. Any Dem will be opposed to it. That will make one party the earth sign. The other will be the water sign. Together they will make mud.

Actually, most negative ads are not run by campaigns, but by special interest groups. Moveon.org had some of the most negative ads ever created (remember the one using Hitler that was so negative even liberals were offended?).
But special interest groups on both sides of each issue run horrible ads. The government needs to look to limit those, which allow the candidates to attack each other by proxy.

They're going to be even more negative because of Hildabeast. She'll have her Praetorian Guard Hit Teams working overtime to smear anyone on the Democrat side who challenges her for the nomination, then shift them into attack mode against anyone nominated by the Republican Party. That woman has been completely unbearable ever since that girl, Dorothy, dropped the house on her sister.

Negative ads have been traditionally used by the DEMOCRATS..and it was only recently that the GOP retalliated..then the Dems cry foul...well I dont see the Dems backing away yet so I doubt there will be a positive campaign...remember who came up with the October suprise Idea....it was't the GOP....Can you say........CLINTON
And the funny part about it is when the GOP did it 3 yrears ago they were using the Dems voting records...that was negative......lol
