It is different for each person and each pregnancy - it's not true that if your baby drops, you will definitely give birth soon, as my friend's baby dropped at 28 weeks and she had him at 38 weeks!!
My baby had dropped at 32 weeks, I'm 34 weeks now, and although the pressure is much greater "down there", apparently she could hold on a few more weeks. I am at risk of premature labour, though, so it is unusual for baby to drop so early.
With my first, he dropped at 36 weeks, and was born on his due date, at exactly 40 weeks.
Good luck!! Remember, your baby can be head down but not actually "dropped" for a long time before your due date!
Congrats! Not too long now!

Hi there. With your first pregnancy the baby will usually drop anywhere from 2-4 weeks before you give birth.

With my first I dropped around 36 weeks and he was born at 38 weeks. My second I dropped at 32 weeks and he was born at 40. This time I dropped around 32 weeks again (feels like I can reach up and touch him!) I am 34 weeks now. Good luck!

The baby will assume it's position any time from during the 7th month onwards. It can take various positions, but 95% of the time it takes up the standard 'head-down' position (see source below)
