We haven't until Iraq mate, and, Iraq was a stupid mistake made by ideologues that used their "spread of democracy" doctrine as a cover for their own power lust.

If you have a fire ant problem do you get rid of them while they are in your yard or wait until they are in your bed? I see no problem being proactive instead of reactive when it involves people who have stated clearly and directly that "We will kill the infadels and attack thier interests (by the way, if you are not a radical muslem, that means you. It does not just mean Americans) wherever in the world we can find them, and will not aknowlege difference between a government, military,religion or the people." If they say it, trust me they mean it.
Wise up (especially young people who haven't had time to get much world experience yet) evil exits. It's messy to get rid of. In The Bible God never sent guardian angels to fight demons, He sent Arch Angels.
In WWII Germany didn't attack us, but looking back at history if Hitler had been allowed to continue, growing stronger and weakening our allies (who were attacked) do you have any doubt that he would have eventually gotten to us? Were we supposed to just sit by and let him continue "racial & religious cleansing" because it hadn't actually physically touched us yet? Remember his reign of terror didn't start big it grew.

How many Americans have to die before we decide to counterattack? Is that what you are asking?
We have one obligation in this world and that is to take care of ourselves and our way of life, because if we don't do that it is only a matter of time before we lose it all. Take a look at Europe in WWII. If someone would have pulled the plug on Hitler early, so many would not have died at his hand.

In India, the cow is considered very sacred and gentle---we call them "Holy Cow!"

Nope we should stand back and let them smack the crap out of us first. Wow that makes a lot of sense doesn't it. First let them kill a bunch of Americans, then we can fight back. Sorry I would rather get tehm bfore they get our people. If you think that is not their plan, then get off your butt and watch Al Jazerra TV sometime. Their coming and sticking your head in the sand is not going to slow them too much. Unless they die laughing at your butt sticking in the air
