The wedding vows should represent the beliefs and commitments of both people. Beyond that, it really doesn't matter what the two people promise to each other.
If the woman wants to promise obedience to her husband, and both husband and wife are happy with that, let 'em. I wouldn't want anything like that in my marriage vows, but different people have different beliefs and traditions. I wouldn't presume to dictate what is or isn't okay for someone else.

Nice to have you back - stirring up trouble again. To answer your question - NO. The word "Obey" does not belong in the vows. Man is not the master - no matter what some people might think.

When I got married, I had to request that the word "obey" be included. I wanted to have traditional wedding vows. Now, whether or not I kept that vow.....

As long as the husband says the same dude. We didn't have the "obey" part in it. She's not my pet,my child,or my possesion. She is my lovely wife who I love and honor daily. I think your way too young to have a clue as to what I'm talking about. If your such a control freak be prepared to hear no ALOT.

no I don't but for the woman that doesn't mean we have to obey you too. A marriage is a partnership not a dictatorship. In my wedding we said love, honor, and cherish

Love and honor, sure. But "obey", please! Will the husband make to same vow? If not, then toss out the obey part.

Judging by some of your other questions:
Do you believe girlfriends or wives should be punished by their man when they disobey him or do something bad?
How do you feel about today's women being so out of control and insubordinate to their man?
What jobs do you think women should be banned from doing?
Ladies, will your husband or boyfriend allow you to wear a two piece bathing suit in public?
Ladies, how often does your man tell you that you have to wear a chastity belt?
Ladies, do you look up to your man as the ruler of the household?
You have issues.
You have to realize that women have all the rights men do. When you think about it, women are actually superior to men in some ways. They can bare children. Can you. Please ask questions that aren't degrading to women.

No. Say something nice like: I'll be by your side for the rest of my life, smiling and looking upon the good and bad time we've had :D
