Which brand should i buy? Toshiba, HP, DELL, Compaq??? I have seen a DELL which is made in malaysia?is it good

& which operationg system should i use? VISTA or XP? which one is the best?

I've had good luck with Toshiba, HP and Dell. Worked on many machines, repairing them and the above were easy to fix. I would stay away from Compaq. I also like Gateway and if economy is a factor try eMachines.

I'm waiting on Vista service release pack 1. Too buggy and I wouldn't run it with less than 2 Gb of RAM but then I like 1 Gb for XP and 2 for my Linux machines. That'll add some cost to your machine. And I think they are recommending 256 Mb of RAM on the video cards in Vista too.

I once read an article in PCWorld where they stated 27% of all shipping computers arrived with at least 1 malfunctioning component.

IBM or Dell are the top two. You see them every where in homes, Hospitals, Doctors Offices etc.
