if your coffee tastes off you can take cafe of that by cleaning out the filtering system
just use a little bleach and water run one pots worth then do the same thing just no bleach this time. it might also be a good idea to let the pot itself soak in hot water with a very small amount of vinegar and bleach, for about 30 minutes then wash it, in hot soapy water, then wash it a second time

Running the coffee maker with and 50/50 white vinegar-water mixture cleans it out pretty well. Be sure to run it 2-3 times more with 100% water after as well.
