I read on the internet that if you press 809 on your phone it will run your cell phone up to thousands of dollars is that true?

Well that's an area code for the Carribeans. If you're calling there, it's $25 per mintue. So, yes.

I am no expert on this, but I find it hard to believe, simply because some people carry their cell phones in their pockets and purses with out the keys being locked and they could easily accidently dial those numbers, also children sometimes get a hold of cell phones and dial random numbers and if that were the case, we would have a lot of very upset people. I would say it is safe to say no. But call the phone company that your cell phone is connected through and they will tell you..

totally false, the cell company would would be facing lots lawsuits if it was true.
