Maybe a bit like Carrie I'd imagine.
Actually this happened to someone I know and my real nonhumorous opinion is that any parent who would let their daughter suffer this way should be sent to jail.
Whats the point of having a child if you can't take the responsibity of preparing that child for the life ahead of them?

I wasn't told about periods till I had one. I went to catholic school up until Grammar (that's High School). So anything to do with menstruation, or, female and male genitalia was never discussed. I was also raised by my grandmother, she had assumed that one of my aunts or cousins had given me the girl to girl talk. Not so. Ironically I came on in church. I'm not going to go into full detail about what happened. But the first time I got it, I truly believed I was sick, it was a very scary and embarrassing time. Thankfully an older cousin came over that night, and she explained what was happening to me, and cheered me up. She also told me, that all women celebrate that time every month (yeah right!).
