I know you said don't bother, but I gota throw my two cents in this bit. I agree with you, true wrestlers can do mic, charisma and in ring skills, people like Eddie Guerrero, Booker T (Not the current Booger King), even Kurt Angle, Cristian Cage, Rhino, Raven, Rey Mysterio, RVD, and so many others are not recognized for that, and it disapoints me how they look at people like Cena and Orton as great wrestlers, they are just great ACTORS to make Vince Money and get what they want in return. It's sad I tell you.

I completely disagree with the "no mic skills and had as much charisma as dog ****" comment. Before we get to that though, you admit Bret was at the very least (in your opinion) "could entertain in the ring", but I gather you thought he sucked on the mic. By that, and you claiming earlier that Bret was your #1 overrated wrestler, your saying that as entertaining Bret was in the ring, his lack of (your opinion again) mic skills completely over shadowed that. That doesn't cut it for me.
I don't know what interviews you were watching, but Bret was above average on the mic. I will not compare him to The Rock, Hogan or Austin who are clear cut the best interviews of all time. Those 3 are the A+s. The second level would consist of HBK and Flair, not top notch, but still A-/B+. Bret is the third level, the solid B/B- level. If you want to compare him to wrestlers these days, it would be Triple H. Lets face, Hunter is nothing special with a mic. He's nothing special in the ring either, but he has enough talented opponents and enough timing to over shadow that, but hey, that's another story, for another time.
Bret on the mic, was solid. He never had to resort to cursing (not that he never cursed, he did, but it wasn't his main plan of attack) or cheap pop/heat gimmicks to garner any response. Mick Foley is the cheap pop, Shawn Michaels in his DX days was the cheap heat, he basically took vulgarity, which until that time was taboo in a wrestling ring and shocked his way to responses. You could argue Austin was the same way, but Austin made me believe he could hurt me, Shawn never did.
There are some characters that needed animation to get what they needed accomplished, Rock and Hall (Hogan was obviously as well, but he went over the top) were the first to come to mind, they were not polished wrestlers. Average and maybe in Hall's case, above average. They needed to cover up the lack of wrestling skill so they had to show a lot of charisma. Kevin Nash, horrible wrestler, he needed (and has) charisma to ooze out of him. Flair is another Era, he came from a wrestlers Era (Pre Hogan) that even if you weren't 6'6, 280, you could still beat somebody. On the mic, Bret didn't need to yell or think up cool phrases, if you didn't believe he could beat you, watch him wrestle, he'd change your mind. Chris Benoit is like that, when before him (Lashley is like this now, sorta) did you ever see someone win the world title without any mic skills?
Bret was a lot like Austin, they weren't flashy, by the time (or right around then), Austin got huge, he already had his neck injury and wasn't the same wrestler, actually he wasn't a wrestler at all anymore, he was a striker, he needed to be strong on the mic to make anyone believe he could beat them, Bret didn't have that problem, you could watch his match and say ... "yea ... he can beat me". Do you think Bret really hated America? Of course not, but did he make you believe he did? Oh yes he did. Did you hate him or boo him because of his interviews? You probably did. He got the response from the fans that he was supposed to get on the mic. Isn't that the definition of someone good on the mic?
As for current wrestlers, Bret on the mic is better then guys like Orton and Carlito (easily), perhaps as good as Edge, but a level under Cena.
I ignored the Foley part, but I will address it real quick, Foley got over with me by giving it his all in the ring and entertaining me. I thoroughly enjoy a good worker (Benoit, Malenko, Eddie), but your fooling yourself if you think Rock or Austin were good wrestlers. They weren't, that would mean that I didn't enjoy watching them. Wrong, I did, a entertaining wrestler is not always a good wrestler, Foley was in no way shape or form a good wrestler, but he still entertained the hell out of me. There's one thing that every guy I've mentioned has, both in the ring and on the mic and that's what got them over. Timing. Both wrestling timing and industry timing (meaning they got in at the right time for them). That's the biggest thing I see holding John Cena back, he's coming in at a horrible time. But I won't get into that.
I apologize if my thoughts were all over the place, I'd had to defend Bret before on whether he was better then Flair or HBK, but I never thought I'd have to defend him on being overrated before.
