Usually you have no choice but to vote for these professional leeches. A common man has no chance of serving in the running of the country. He is locked out. .

I get very surprised when educated people like you suggest dictatorship or military rule as options for political systems.

You should understand first that the Military General appeals to you only because of his uniform. He may not be having any brain. He looks good only with band and jeep.

Politicians come through hard work and have developed equations with the people.

Are they a seperate breed from all of us?
We make politicians and we corrupt them. First we should know what we are doing. Know our rights and duties. How many in our country know the rights and duties. Ha Ha Ha Ha..
We lack in basics. First let us all start educating our fellow indians about the basics, we all need to volunteer instead of chatting on the web. Let us be pratical and get out of our comfort zones and start a forum where there is no food for the hungry. where there is no clothes for our women, where there is no human treatment to our women, where there is no education to our children, the future of India. Just give me 6 months and let's see a Brighter, shining INDIA!

Because no one else requires a vote. The common people are prepared to work :-) so votes are not required.
Seriously, this sort of apathy is the bane of the country. Instead of thinking of solutions (which we are not sure), we should ensure the right people are elected. Atleast the devils are known, persident rule or martial rule could turn out to be worse.

Are you suggesting that we do not vote for the politicians and encourage the corrupt ones in office? If you look closely, there should be at least one person among the plethora of candidates who are worthy of your vote. As for the suggesting military/president's rule, there is no assurance that they are clean either.

the democratic process is not free. u merely endorse the candidate the party chooses not the one u think will lead the community to prosperity. in a truly 'demos' society, the society at its lowest grassroot level - village level should vote the best person/s they think will lead the community and not the person making the most noise which is the current situation. Vote for someone who would lead the community without thinking of making $$$. then that person is truly selfless which is rare. those in governance must also be paid well so as to thwart corruption. then we get a good society. this is a long road to traverse

We have a three branch government to prevent the power of one from becoming to great... why would we vote for military rule, that isn't what our government and constitution were founded on.... if you want to live under a military regime, maybe you should look into moving to China, or Venezuela, or Cuba? I'm sure they'd be happy to take you!

Politicians must not be given the monopoly of government. Religious and miltary leaders must be given the chance to serve as Presidents in order that the country will progress and eliminate the traditional politicians who tend to enrich themselves when in power.

We should ask this question to the Election Commission of India. I agree with you. How can we develop India with corruption in all the departments even in law and order.

In the US we are fed a candidate by the political parties. A common man has no chance of getting past the gatekeepers.
