The MediaWiki software, which is what Wikipedia runs on, uses MySQL to store all of its data. However, Wikipedia also uses Squid caching, so most of the time when you request an article, it comes directly from the cache, not from the MySQL database.

And to Mr. Johnny above, I think the asker meant SQL Server, which is commonly abbreviated to just "SQL".

Hello,
I would like to clear your misconception first.

1.Data can't be stored in SQL.SQL is simply a language used in databases like Oracle

I think such huge amount of info which contains pictures e.t.c
not good to be stored in database.But a part of it like information type,information date preferably stored in database.All the documents are stored in xml,html format
