On 21 December 1993 a transfer was made of 12 kilotonnes of sulphur dioxide from the other industry sector to the power stations sector with effect from 1996, declining pro rata to the existing reductions from 1999 to 2003.
This minor technical change recognises the new five year contract agreed between British Coal and Scottish Power and the latter's commitment to fit flue gas desulphurisation equipment at Longannet power station.
