Start learning to be quiet for short periods of time.

That means turn off the radio, the TV and whatever else is making noise in your life and sit quietly for a while. You can even talk to God in this quiet. A good place to practice quiet is outdoors, like in the country, where the sounds of nature actually have a calming effect on the soul.

In college I often studied outdoors for this reason.

If you can only do this for 5 minutes, fine. Start working up to 10 minutes and then 15 and then 30.

Good luck and let the search for Truth begin!

Quieting the soul takes practice and discipline. This is why many monks and nuns live in cloistered monasteries - because they are free of many distractions which hinder quietude.

You'll get it if you just start small and work up. Don't try studying straight for an hour or you'll go crazy.

And try to start cutting out noisy distractions like TV, radio PC games and video games because they will continue to compete with true study until you control the time you spend with them.

You can't sit for long periods of time and still feel motivated to learn more - or even take in everything a teaqcher is saying. Our brains need rest now and then, so to keep yourself fresh and alert to learn more, it is always best to have a set time each day where you take a break for say, 15 minutes to wind down, then go back and study.
Continuous study always leads to being unmotivated and eventually lets you dread the mere thought of needing to study.

Are you studying at home, try not to let things distract you.Put aside 1 hour for study ,then have a break .If necessary do another hour , have a break. If its a problem you have at school it could be stress , you are obviously an active person and having to sit still in school is a problem. Try joining an activity club, i.e. tennis or bowling then you have something to look forward to.Is someone telling you off ? Try meditation it will help you to feel calm.

After studying, take a rest. Studying makes you tired, so do not study for hours. For instance, study for half an hour and take a rest for five minutes, or study for an hour and take a rest for ten minutes. Taking a rest will make you relaxed and you can concentrate on your study for another hour. Good luck!
