It is always a tricky business to generalize, but in the past I would say, yes, that statement was largely true.

Men did the pursuing and women ultimately decided whether the relationship would last.

Now that divorce is acceptable (sadly) there are perhaps just as many men as women asking for them, although it is still true that men see divorce as admitting failture and so maybe they are a little more hesitant to throw in the towel.

Maybe that's why many men would rather turn to an affair than actually end their marriage. Maybe they think they can have both.

Women are more likely to want to get out when the emotional side of a relationship is on the rocks. They don't tend to see divorce as failure but as a means of saving themselves from unhappiness.

Divorce does not create happiness....but that's another subject.....and another answer for another day.....

I would say yes to both. Men initiate romance because they are risk takers, more so than women. Women are more cautious about these things and it usually takes them longer to come around.

Currently in America, women initiate most divorces. Divorce laws in the U.S. favor women, most women end up coming out of it better than most men, IMO

No one can say that men initiate romance and women breakup and divorce. It all depends on the circumstances one is facing. There are several men who drink, smoke, gamble and are no good husband (mind well, all are not the same) while the wife is the bread earner. If the wife in similar circumstances thinks of divorce it is the husband to be blamed.

No set answer. (In general), I agree with your question, men first and women end it. Why primarily is she has someone else on her mind or a need to fulfill, in other words she is bored. Most women want security above all else, the traditionalist seek husbands that can provide. If he fails in life, many men get dumped and she routinely already has a lover waiting unless she can't find one. Money is primarily the motive she will divorce, either it's not enough at home,or there is another waving it in front of her on the side, or sex.

No. Men are told since they are toddlers they are to go after the lady but women are getting more bold and taking on some of the responsibility. However, men are always asking for divorces or break ups simply due to the fact they met someone else. Very simple. Good question!!

I'd say so.

On my case, the split-up was initiated by me. My ex-husband still thinks I am his wife 4 years after the breakdown.

The temper problem when under the influence of alcohol and a year prior to the split up came his drug abuse were too much to bear, not to mention the trauma the children would have suffered seeing their father doing drugs. Alcohol was an everyday event and I put up with it for 13 years.

And there may be other relevant reasons.

I don't think so... people are individuals, and it makes it hard to generalize. Sorry this answer isn't really very helpful.

May God bless you.
