Yes, they will stick something inside. They will start with a special instrument that allows them to look inside called a speculum. It looks a lot like a duck's bill. They have a size that fits in to a young woman just right.
While in there they may do a pelvic exam to check to make sure everything is normal but for checking for to see if you have discharge they will take a sample of the discharge from your vagina and send it to a lab to have it analyzed.
Because this is the first time you'll be having something like this done let the dr know that you are nervous. A good dr will also help to ensure that you are relaxed in addition to what your mom will tell you by explaining what they are doing as they go thru each step.
I can't say don't be nervous because this is your first time but pls try to stay relaxed as being all tense (tight) will make it harder for them to check what's going on.
When I had my first pelvic exam at 18 (I am 35 now) my mom was in the room with me when the dr did it.
So having your mom there should also help you with this experience.
I wish you all the best and hope that the problem clears up soon.

no, they won't stick something inside you to check yeast infection. They will just look at your vagina and that's about it. the symtoms of yeast infection is white cottage cheese like discharge and red or swollen vagina so they don't need to stick anything in there. If they do, then that's wrong. However, You need to tell the doctor that you are a virgin. and if doctor's trying stick something, then say NO!

Well, sometimes we get treated poorly and the medical field does this often-be prepared to be treated as if you are sexually active, have some kind of sexually transmitted disease, and?or you might be pregnant.Believe it or not honey, this is typical, and other than checking your panties for tell tale signs of yeast build up yes you probably will receive a full papsmear-you do need this done by the way.We are complicated. Check out websites 4 papsmears

If you use a tampon, you will probably be completely fine. I just had it done, and I'm 17 and not sexually active as well. Usually your doctor will ask (I just had it done), there was a little discomfort, but its nothing near a shot. I'm sure you will be fine and it will be over before you know it. If you are really worried just concentrate on something else, I don't know if you are into like dance or ice skating or something, but for me it helps to count like beats. LIke 1,2,3...4,5,6.

Your doctor will diagnose your yeast infection by asking about your symptoms, examining your vagina, and taking a sample of your vaginal discharge. The sample will be examined under a microscope and may also be "cultured" (a lab test to check for bacterial or fungal growth).
Its nothing to be affraid of & takes a sec. & is not painful at all.

Then this will more than likely be an unpleasant expiriance. Maby you should ask your mom to explain it to you.
In times like this, family can be a really good suport.
