This new documentary sounds breathtaking. My brother has two kids. Son 9 gets creeped out easy and daughter 3 isn't fazed by anything. Anyway. I wanted to suggest to my brother, that he DVR this (on HDTV!!!) to watch with his family, I think they would love it. But not likely if it is full of graphic stuff. The mating thing wouldn't matter but the lion tearing up the water buffalo etc would definitely be out of the question for these kids. Yes, it is part of natural life and the real world, etc...I know I know but not all material is suitable for all ages.

Has anyone seen any reviews with regard to how much graphic stuff is in this series or how suitable for children?

Oh and this really IS for the kids. Not me. They don't spend much time together because he works alot out of town. I thought this would be a good family night thing plus they both love animals. I'm DVRing it for myself. We live in two different states...hahaha! I am jealous of his giant screen HDTV though!

Planet Earth does not focus on the graphic gore that many nature programs do. This is very suitable for children. It's being implemented in the classroom. Each story is about 10-15 mins long and does not get into a lot of mating or killing. Overall this is an excellent program!

well in hindsight,

i watched it, and the only parts that the kids would not like would be easy to predict.

when animals are corssing a river, some will die.

when seals are swimming, some will be shark bait.

when elephants are crossing a desert, some will starve.

and when large ammounts of critters hatch at the same time many will be eaten.

in short about every 15 minutes something was getting eaten or dieing. there was a lot of really beautiful pictures and a lot of really great information. but not for kids that do not understand death, or deal with it well.

If something that's in simple terms species evolution to alter (just to evolve to their environments) that's like how the blind cave fish deep under the sea now not has eyes so as to guard that area of that's face. it is so darkish it could not see besides and that's physique recocnized the could rid the physique of an unused area. that's not pushing the evolution of guy (that's in simple terms a scientific learn in this planet we are residing in!). take excitement in it devoid of bias!!
