After 35 years of watching TV i clicked the OFF button after the christmas trash and said goodbye forever, i don't miss it and NOW realise how much of my life was wasted watching rubbish on a square box.
Now i use the time better, even on here answering questions it stimulates the brain and u can learn a lot amongst some of the silly questions. Also i exercise and concentrate on REAL things now, (there is a world out there past the TV box)

I agree, it's got to be Life on Mars. The storyline's weird and confusing (in a good way) but, most of all, the dialogue is absoluely brilliant. Some of the phrases Gene Hunt uses are breathtaking in their political incorrectness! And the Camberwick Green section at the start of this week's episode was genius. "Is Gene punching a ponce?"
Made by the same TV company that makes Spooks - they're absolute geniuses!

My opionon is two shows. Smallville because I loved all the superman movies. It's really cool to watch the beginnings of Clark Kent. And Lost, I watch it because I saw the first episode and I got hooked, I just watch it to see what else unfolds. Smallville on Thursday nights @ 8/7central and Lost on Wednesday @ 10/9 central. I sometimes tape these shows and watch them on the weekends because I am so busy through the week.

I have to agree with a couple of the other answers and say that 'Life on Mars' is fantastic.
The characters make me laugh, seeing all the old brands brings back memories - I remember my dad wearing 'Old Spice'.
Apparently Philip Glenister who's character is DCI Gene Hunt always wears Brut aftershave whilst filming to help him get into character. Does anyone else remember the old Brut adds with Henry Cooper?

I would have to say Monk, and Law and Order SVU. Monk gives you a great mystery with a bit of humor mixed in. It's my favorite show. Law and Order, that is for when I am in my "serious" mood. It's all a matter of preference really. I am sure you will get a lot of "this is the best" answers.

"Heroes" and "Supernatural".
I love the interaction between Sam and Dean on "Supernatural" and the chemistry between Jared Padalecki and Jenson Ackles. It's like they're really brothers.
"Heroes" is just good TV. There's so many compelling characters- Bennet (aka HRG), Claude, Sylar, Mohinder, Nathan... And the way the love triangle ended? That's like a statement on every other stupid fricking love triangle I've had to endure in all the other shows I like. ("Smallville", "Gilmore Girls", "Jericho", "Lost" ...) *claps*

Life on Mars. It's excellent as the contrast between policing methods today and in the 1970s is very well portrayed. It reminds me of when I was small - this weeks opening with Camberwick Green was hilarious - and the music in it is fab!
