the general rule is to wait for six weeks. but it varies depending on the type of birth and the woman. after my 3rd child, i had my check up at 4 1/2 weeks postpartum and the doc said it was okay to have sex. but be warned, a woman is more receptive to getting pregnant after giving birth, so be careful or you'll be having another baby real soon. you should always wait until the doc gives the go ahead.

Usually the doctor recommends 6 weeks. It depends, if you have stitches, how long you bleed after, or when u feel comfortable. I waited a week (didn't have stitches) but it depends on the person.
Just remember it's easier to get pregnant for 1 year after birth! So be careful!

Drs usually recommend waiting til after the postpartum visit which is about 6 weeks after the baby is born. I would recommend double checking with your dr to be on the safe side though.
