This is a star question.

Andre Kirilenko is the best utility player in the NBA. Although his statistics has decreased, he is one of the very few players that can block, steal, rebound, score from outside, and make good passes. Andre Kirilenko is perhaps one of the most versatile player in the NBA.

There are honorable mentions such as Shane Battier, Tayshaun Prince, Robert Horry, and Matt Harpring.

The term "utility player" can be somewhat subjective, but my definition would be a player who is versatile and helpful to the team, but not a big-name star. Under that definition, i would go with Shane Battier. He is a great defender, both on the ball and in a team, willing to do all the little things (setting screens, making the good pass), he is very good at taking charges, he can shoot the ball well from three-point territory, and he does not mind taking whatever role his team needs him to on a nightly basis. If Houston is short-handed, he can and will be a scorer, but he also does not mind playing reduced roles if his teamates are playing well. And just look how bad Memphis, even with Gasol, is without him.
