In the wild? The tortoises in Malaysia (Impressed, Asian Brown, and Indian Star seem to be the main ones) are rather scarce to start with, and there are rather few field notes on them.

Your best bet would be to find some, and watch them every day. Most nesting will be at night, so bring a flashlight. Once ou see them laid, check the nest after about 20 days, but you'll need to check it nightly between the 20th and about the 100th days. Most of the action usually happens between the 30th and 60th days- but it can take up to almost a year in some cases!

Even people who study reptiles in the wild rarely get to see this so be patient.

If you know someone who keeps them and you can watch one of their clutches, your odds will improve- but even a lot of keepers don't get to see a lot of their eggs actually hatch.

One of the members of the Jax herp Society is also a member of the Asian Turtle Consortium. His website is defyingdestiny.org. He is one of the leading breeders of Burmese Mountain Tortoise. Also, you might try the well known photographer Bill Love, he is a big contributor to Reptile Magazine, and has lectured for our Herp Sociey on numerous very memorable occasions. I wish I was going with you!!!!
