A man who is angry, jealous (I've had that one before), or afraid of a strong, independent woman, has issues himself. Help him find his way, if you must (I wouldn't because that only breeds more resentment), but I would steer clear of these types of men because they are not trying to celebrate you, they will attempt to hold you down and suppress you to make themselves feel more like a so-called man.

We Men Have Been In Power So Long That As We See The Woman Coming Back To Her Rightful Place As Leader We Wonder If She Will Want Revenge For All Of The Evil We Have Done To Her And The World, Truthfully. Even Knowing The Reality Of Her Raising Damn Near Everyone On The Planet Men Still Feel The Need To Keep Her Out Of Power, Yet She Is The Power I Mean My Mom Is A Woman!!!! LOL

Hi Rebel

I see all the answers - but what do YOU actually mean by the label "strong independent woman"?

Ask yourself, "What makes women so angry/afraid of a strong independent man?"

Does that seem like a useful question?

In practice, one person's "self-assured woman" is someone elses "egotistical 'female dog'* ". And that can be the case regardless of whether it's a man or a woman who's doing the evaluating.

As a psychologist I am also aware that a certain number of women who APPEAR to be "strong" and "independent" are actually just holding everyone at arm's length so that no one will realise that they are actually highly stressed and seriously lacking in confidence. I don't say that is common, but in my experience it's more common than it used to be, and apparently on the increase.

I don't think you're correct to say that men -- in general -- feel angry and afraid of strong, independent women. In fact, a lot of men select women for those traits. Take one look at how many Dominatrixes are raking in the money out there, heheh!

If some particular man is afraid of independence in a woman, he may be feeling insecure that he is not needed. Or he might just have been raised with old-fashioned values and believes in them, or can't adapt.

Yes I'd like a strong independent "woman." American big city culture breeds strong independent feminists with little feel for the subtleties of being a woman.

um well im not sure myself, but if you think about it.. i think it might relate to history.. cause in the past men were on top.. woman were lower class, had less power than men.. men were always the one with more oppunities and such.. but then came strong women who wanted to be independant.. women began to vote and take over some jobs that men do.. i guess if the guy is old fasion he might hold a grude.. but yeah.. thats what i think..

the guy might be just old fashion and believe that a women belong in the house taking care of the kids.. cause thats were the jobs in the past history.. men were the provider and women were the care giver..

but not all men today are like that.. you need to find a man that was raise right from his mommy haha

:)

It threatens their identity. They have been brain washed on what a "real man" is supposed to be and how a woman is supposed to act to support those ideals. Even the best man can't change that unless he wants to realize that he is privileged and it's not right.
And no Joe C, a woman is not supposed to act different after she is married, that's the whole point. If you love you wife you should get up off you butt and do some house work.

Not all men are that way. I know my husband isn't. The good men appreciate a strong minded independant woman. YOu just have to keep looking till you find the right man and he will appreciate you for who you are.

Most men like a strong independent woman.

Those that don't are insecure and an independent woman makes them feel less needed emotionally and/or financially and they feel emasculated.

If the person is not strong and not self-assured enough, he's afraid of having a strong and independent partner. he tryes to avoid the situations when he feels weaker than somebody else. It helps to keep his inner balance
