blind melon is the band
song is 1992's no rain from their self titled debut album. the girl on the album cover is not the same girl in the video. album cover girl is guitarists rogers little sister dressed up for a school play from 10 years before the album came out. the guys liked the photo and wanted it for the album cover.
the girl in the video was just some paid actor. the band hated her. she was such a beeetch. shannon at one point during the shoot, probably high on lsd, stripped off his clothes and starting running through the fields where the girl was dancing. the girl's parents started throwing a fit.
they wrote a song about the bee girl which appeared on the Nico album, the one of b - sides that was released after lead singer shannon hoon's death. there is also an alternate version of No Rain called the ripped away version. that version is what was commonly played live, until they went back into the album version. youtube a saturday night live appearance of blind melon to find the ripped away version.
