To me, a joke is a joke, and as long as it's funny, I don't care who or what it's about, but in my opinion, comedians are supposed to get away with saying edgy things because everyone knows they're joking around. Why are racial jokes only off limits to white comics?

It depends on what you mean by racial.
If a joke is insulting to any race, it cant be acceptable.
But most comedians I've heard basically talk about racial traits that are true, funny and cant be denied or ignored. People accept these, Chris Rock has teased both sides, he uses factual material... Things like those aren't dreamt up in their heads, they research their stuff, and the beauty is they come back on stage with things we can relate to...
In RSA I've heard many a white comedians talk about blacks, either traits they've noticed about blacks in this country, or mimicking the accent of the black man. We find it entertaining coz we've actually heard it before and can laugh about it as well...

I'm personally not into jokes that are meant to be directed at specific groups of people, so neither of those types of jokes are acceptable in my opinion. As for why some people feel it's ok for blacks and not whites, blacks went through hell at the hands of whites and some whites still think we aren't equal so I guess it's just a touchy thing.

They are trying to be politically correct. It's getting old. I agree, a joke is a joke. Not everyone is going to think it's funny as we all have different tastes in jokes, but still, this race card thing is getting really old.

simple black people love to laugh and criticize everyone else , they are offensive,, they even call themselves with the "n " word,, I would never call **** to another hispanic person.. make fun of them not being black you are racist..but they can say whatever they want..they take advantage more than you think with the term racism..they get away from crimes, they get jobs,, even if they are not qualified,, if companies dont hire them ,, they mention racism,.. they get the job...of course not all black people are like that.. but some take advantage of the racism word

I think that they are both funny, as long as they are not nasty or insulting. Ethnic jokes are based on stereotypes that usually are caricatures of reality. As long as they are not degrading, I don't have a problem with them.
But then, I'm not politically correct.

it incredibly is a double common that the white persons enable, becuause of ways they taken care of them durring the slave days, and at present the seggrigation..... that is strange, reason white people bash themselves, while a white comedian does black jokes... pass determine.

I think the black jokes are funny and I will continue to listen to them, you know that they watch Chris Rock and his whitey jokes.

I think we blacks should stop thinking that or jokes about blacks are racism. Of course no one likes to be categorized racist
