I started gymnastics when I was 15!! So yes I was in a class with a bunch of 9 year olds, but I quickly got over that awkwardness because I found out I really loved the sport just as much as I thought I did. It is a little uncomfortable at first because most people who are still even in gymnastics at your age started when they were like 3 or 4. But if gymnastics is something you want to do, absolutely go for it. I did, and I think that was one of the best decisions I ever made- trying something new.
If you do decide to start, it makes it a little bit easier if you have a friend with you. A girl who was also 15 started when I did at the same gym, same class. That made it a lot better, at least for me.

If you would like to be an actual gymnast, Yes. Consider the fact that Dominique Moceanu made the Olympic team at an incredible 14 years of age. Most gymnasts sum up their career at about 23-24 and 26 is considered over the hill.
That being said gymnastic ability helps with a lot of other interests like martial arts, stunt man, football, and other things that require flexibility, stamina, jumping ability, and body control.

No, you still can work on your flexibility and have time to grow. It would have been far more desirable if you had started younger, but so long as you have the resolve to practice repeatedly, you should be fairly capable come 2010. In a lot of sports, there are a surprisingly large number of people who are too lazy to consistently train and practice, and that's where one can net an easy advantage - by simply being more hardworking.

It's never too old for anyone to begin enjoying a new sport.
Consider though, that you will have virtually no place to practice unless you pay a pricey gym membership. You'd have to find a place that wasn't just for little kids.
And again, other than your own personal enjoyment, I know of no competitions that you would be able to qualify for on the amatuer or professional circuit.
It's not about age so much as it is about training. It takes years and years and years of practice and hard work to be able to get your body to bend and to perfect certain moves. There's a great deal of discipline involved.
Maybe consider teaching it someday.
