The official premiere date is August 17, 2007. It will premiere on the Disney channel, most likely around 7:00 or 8:00. (at least, here... i'm in central time)
Just a few other HSM facts for you:
They are planning on having a High School Musical 3.
A stage version of High School Musical will be touring at some point (I would guess in 2008). It won't be the original cast.
High School Musical: On Ice will begin touring in September of this year.
