Hi my son (10 months now) was exactly the same as you are describing sick after every feed up to ten times and even as late as 3 hours after! Funny enough he is also on SMA Gold which I have since heard contains an agent which can trigger a mild from of reflux in young babies. Don;t confuse this with the acid reflux that other answers have mentioned - I had a friend whose baby had acid reflux and beleive me you would know if your son had this condition as it is really painful for them when they bring milk back up. I think it bothered me more than my son as he was not distressed at all by it - I also felt that he was constantly wearing a bib and I was constantly washing them!! You probably feel like me - you don;t want to go out anywhere too soon after a bottle cos you know he'll bring some back! The GP also told me that bottle fed babies cannot judge when they are full up as well as breast fed babies can (as the milk flows from the bottle quicker that the breast) and the milk they are bringing back up is in effect surplus to requirement. One thing I did find that helped was to sit him in his bouncer chair for about 20 mins after each feed where possible so he was upright. Do you also find that he is never sick after his night time feed? My advice would be not to worry about it unless your son seems distressed about it or of course he is losing weight as a result. To give you some positive info it stopped almost overnight when my son got to five months old (before I started solids) so I guarantee you won't be washing bibs forever. Best of luck xxxx

My daughter was like this too. Some babies just spit up more than others.I took her to the Dr because I was worried she wasnt keeping anything at all down. The Dr explained that they only spit up about a teaspoonful. But because it goes everywhere it looks like a lot more. Try this, get a teaspoonful of water or milk and spill it on a plate or the kitchen bench. It spreads out alot and so looks like you spilt more than you actually did.
Take him to the Dr if you want some reassurance.
My daughter was like this till she was around 10 months to a year. Sorry I can't remember exactly as she is now 6. You just have to always have burb rags handy, bibs and spare changes of clothes. Try burbing more during a feed. But really if he is just a spitty baby there really is nothing you can do.
Good Luck and enjoy being covered in spit up all day!!! lol

It can be worrying but more often than not with babies it's normal. He's probably taking his milk a bit too quickly which creates 'wind'. The wind then pushes the milk behind it back up!
Unless he's obviously unwell, is content and growing well there's nothing to worry about. As for the bibs, thank goodness for them! He'll soon grow out of it, then something else will be a worry for a short while

My neice was just the same (im lucky my daughter was never sicky) but at 3 months she started being very sicky (inc projectile vomiting) but they kept taking her to the clinic and her weight was always fine and was told as long as she is keeping enough down its fine, and she obviously was cos she was gaining weight even so it looked like she was throwing the whole feed back. This seemed to last forever but by the time she was 7 months she was no longer that sickly little baby and is now a healthy four year old and her parents have just accepted she was a sicky baby.... it happens and unfortunately theres not much you can do except keep taking her to the clinic to measure the weight, AOnly if the child starts loosing weight or not gaining weight will the health proffesions intervene but this as i said is quite rare. Your child will grow out of it!

may be he is lactose intolerant. see your doctor as soon as possible for it to be checked.
but as the first answerer said try changing the brand of formula you are giving him. though to be honest the best milk you could give him is your own.
i'm not a parent, but my sister was lactose intolerant as a small child. hence my reason for answering this.
what have you changed in his diet or yours that could be cusing the symptoms?
is the formula you buy now a different brand than a month ago?
whatever happens i hope this gets resolved for the better and fast, as at that age if he is not keeping his milk down he could be in real danger health wise but then you know that. call a professional or just got to your doctor as soon as you can. where a child is concerned there is no such thing as wasting a doctors time.
that said ask this question in the same detail and more to NHS direct in the UK phone: 0845 46 47
all the best

Have you tried other brands of formula? Is he like it with them also? He may have a reaction to the milk. He could be lactose intolerant. He may need a soy formula or some thing lactose free.
My son was like this when he was 1 and I gave him goats milk, But his tummy has settled now and he can have cows milk again after 1 yr of goats milk.
Hope this helps.

You could try stopping every so often and see if he appears satisfied. Some babies will overeat sometimes just for the comfort of sucking and make themselves sick. Also acid reflux can cause this (my sisters baby had it and she spit up alot every feed also) Although the medicine they gave for it only had a 50/50 chance of working. Another thing if your breastfeeding is a possibly irritation to something that you may be eating.Theres just so many things it could be.Hope all goes well.Good luck!

You may want to make a trip to the doc. My daughter did the same thing at about the same age. It got worse and worse. I finally decided to take her in and it turns out that she had acid reflux. Apperently it is very common and it is easily treatable.
If left untreated the "spitting up" will turn to vomitting and the acid can actually scar the babies esophogus. My daughter grew out of it at about 10 months and hasn't had any more problems. She is now 3 1/2.

Before changing his milk you should speak to your hv or gp if you haven't already. It could be a reaction to the milk, but I think he would be bringing all of it up, not just some if that were the case.
Could it be he has developed reflux? I have put a link which gives more details. If so, you need to speak to your gp.
