In the respect that I feel I am obligated to help any other human being who is in need, then, yes, I am my brothers' keeper. I believe that it is one of our duties here on earth.

No not since he ripped me off , and i did love my brother..
I did let a Yankee fellow stay on my couch for over two months this past winter.while his terribly open wound infected diabetic foot healed as he would have had to live in his van and i am sure he would have lost that foot and he knew everything as all Yankees do and he got on my nerves but still i was my brothers keeper and he was NOT my brother at all. I don't know why really i let him stay but i would take care of a wounded dog so why not him i guess,he was an idiot and i put up with him .he was rude and i put up with him .WHY?
I guess i am my brothers keeper,an idiot Yankee brother
It would have bothered me to turn him out of my home,is why I am my brothers keeper
You did ask you know.

Yes and no.
Yes - We should love our brothers and help them get to Heaven and sometimes that means providing prayers and assistence and advice. However.....
No - We are not our brothers keeper to the extent of making decisions for them, or not allowing them to make decisions that will teach them. We do what we can for others in charity, and then let them go their own way.
When Cain killed Abel and responded to God's question with "Am I my brother's keeper?" he was being sarcastic to God and trying to steer the subject away from his guilt.

Actually. With no biblical background. Yes. For as long as I can remember, I've constantly looked out for my kid brother. Making sure he always had a smile on his face, and no harm were to befall him. I've went so far as to getting arrested to look after him. He's always been right beside me. It will continue to be that way.

it's a reference to the story of cain and abel in genesis in the bible. God asks Cain where his brother Abel is (not because God doesn't know, but because he wants Cain to confess he murdered Abel). Cain replies with a snotty "i don't know. am i my brother's keeper?" it's just a smartalec answer.
