a word for the wise! this is a true story - somewhat glorified but true!
this movie is not about hating Islam , this movie is to entertain and maybe educate!
the Greeks did not ward off Persians once but twice! it should show you how war mongering these folk where back in the day!
and then Alexander the great did it again during his crusades! all this shows is the superior fighting strategy of the ancient Greeks!~

If Iran is so proud of its Persian Heritage, then it must take the bad with the good. Persia invaded Greece. Modern Iran is located within the ancient boarders of Persia. If the Iranians want to proudly declare their Persian Heritage, then they must also own up to their Persian History. Besides, what is bad about the ability to have put a 250,000 man army together back then? Those are big numbers even today. They are truly impressive numbers for that time period. Still a good thing that they lost though. Democracy owes those 300 Greeks a great debt.

My question to Warren and the other guy is how can it not. I mean most people know Iranians are descendants of Persians...and this movie just *accidently* came out at a weird time. If you are not familiar with the influence of the media and how it can control or influence people (see world war 2 or how kids like to have sex at 12). Now I think if you came out of 300 think damn those Iranians, then you are a real simpleton. But I doubt there isn't something behind the placement of it.
Common sense would say yeah, if they had a movie about how Germans were greedy and rape hungry 2000 years ago, heck ya it's going to offend people. Why? Because it will bounce off people's heads, subconciously or willingly, to how they view people now, in the present.
It IS entertainment though. I'm just saying it's common sense that they'd be mad. What do you expect
Btw, it's not the war Iran is bothered with. It's the rape in the beginning.
Charles- it's common sense. Will they be mad. Yeah. Duh. Of Course. So f**in what. And if you dont think propaganda exists I feel sorry for you.

I tired of this same stupid Question, everyday. Leila and JS1 you are stupid people. Angelic is on the right path. 1 persia, and this battle were around 500 BC. 2. It fell around 300 BC in large part, because it never recovered from losing this war, that it started. 3 Islam came about 700 AD. or about a 1000 years afterwards. 4 the Khan, the Hutts, and even the romans among others, took control of these lands. OR better put the people of persia, are not the same people that are in Iran. It is like saying the "new amsterdam" bombing. ( The dutch use to own a settlement in what is now New York City) and thinking it is the same thing. Which is not.

First of all I don't give a crap what the Iranians think of the film. Iran didn't exist then. This is like saying all westerns showing the Indian wars are bad for the united states and because we feel bad we shouldn't show them. People need to start getting some back bone and not worry about how a movie portray what their ancestor may have done 2500 years ago.

When did Iran go to war with Sparta?
Answer--it didn't. Persia went to war with Sparta. The Persians weren't Muslims, and the Spartans weren't Christians. All were pagans.
How can a movie about events that happened more than two millenia be bad for any modern country?
Iran needs an enema.

Yes. It potrayed them in a negative way. Not like in today's movies where they are all terrorists......see, they should be more upset at that. Not what happened hundreds of years ago......True Lies was a great movie, no?
