It seems to me that Republicans and Democrats are voting the way somebody is telling them how to vote and they are not listening to what the other party is saying.

We would be better off with a parlimentary system, like Great Britain has, and most other western democracies have. You have to form a government by consensus and agreement to work together, and if the majority of people loses faith and confidence in the government, it is out the door and new elections are called. Such a system is more responsive to the will of the people IMO. In our system, people are locked in for four years no matter how crappy they perform. If the Bush admin were in a parlimentary system, they would have been voted out already by now - no parlimentary coalition govt can survive repeated scandals, war failure, and such a low public approval rating. Look at Tony Blair - he's not out yet, but it's a foregone conclusion that he's out soon.

I agree completely with you. When you have 2-sides, with different beliefs, fighting for the same thing it is always going to be ugly. When you believe whole heartedly you're right you seen no reason to compromise. The problem is we have other groups to vote for, i.e. Green and Independent, but those who want to vote for either of these options are told they are wasting their by the big 2 and their supporters because third parties take away votes and heaven forbid you vote for what you believe in and one of the big 2 loses your vote.

Third and fourth parties usually are good from a temporary period, but that's about it. Maybe we should switch to a Parliamentarian form of government.

Not me. As bad as it is, multi-party systems are worse.
