What you have most likely heard is that if you are overweight you have a higher risk of having difficulties conceiving or maintaining a pregnancy and additional health risks while pregnant.
Your BMI is a factor more than the numbers on your scale btw because not all people of the same height have the same body.

The 'overweight' high risk pregnancies you hear so much about - gestational diabetes, high blood pressure and the like - seem to me to be mostly in women that have insulin resistance either caused by the amount of fat on their body (The BMI) or another hormone disorder causing the weight issue.
There are links below that will allow you to figure out your BMI.
Good luck, HTH

Also remember you don't need to eat as much as people think you need to eat. I am 5'5 and overweight at almost 180 but being obese may be what you might be thing for the "bad pregnancies" thing. Talk to your doctor and still do some sort of exorcise like yoga for mommies to be.

How do you define "bad" pregnancy? My friend was overweight and her pregnancy was smooth sailing. The delivery was a little harder than it would be for an average person but thats why they make drugs! : )

no, it shouldn't be a problem at all. a lot of overweight women have healthy pregnancies. i would not worry about it. if still concerned talk to your doctor. your doc should answer any of your questions
