I sincerely doubt it. Traveling on the Gautrain is one thing but once you get dropped off at your station you'll be at the mercy of the standard South African public transport - Taxi's.

Why not? Some South Africans on Yahoo Answers complain that South Africa is not first world enough... Now this high-speed train is an amazing way of transport any person who loves the first world would like to use I suppose. It seems as if some of us are also criticizing progress in South Africa.

I am not in a position to use it but the little I have read puts question marks over what the eventual price of a ticket will be and the crime around the Stations i.e. the speculation is that the Gautrain itself will be safe but stations will attract all sorts of criminals. Hope it works out for you.

Yes, I can't see why? If I travel from Pretoria to Roodepoort and back again and it's gonna cost me R20-00 a ticket (in total R40-00) (that's what they say the cost will be), it will still be cheeper than traveling by car (At this stage with my car I use R50-00 fuel everyday from Pretoria to Rodepoort and back)

No - mainly because I stay in KZN - but otherwise the problem is the public transport from the train stations to where I actually want to go.

If my car breaks down...
Taxi's and their drivers scare the **** out of me 'til today.... (they should just be trained as F1 or Grand Prix drivers). They'd put SA on the map with that...
I dont know, I might just use it...who knows.
