Two months ago, my friends were trying to find out what to get me for my birthday. So, they asked me all these questions on what I'm interested in, including if I like playing my Gamecube, Game Boy, DS, Playstation, etc. And I told them that I don't give my time for those anymore. And when it's time to open my present, they gave me a Wii! I was shocked, yet devastated for that present! Coz they put all their efforts and money into buying me something I told them I had no much interest in!

So, now they keep on asking me how was my Wii and if I were to buy new games and stuff, and I keep on answering that I didn't play it for a while and all that, and they seemed disappointed.

What should I do? It's the first time my friends planned such thing, especially since I've known them all for just a year! They were so generous... but how can I act in this trap?

Pherhaps they misinterpreted your answer, and thought you'd grown tired of your old systems and needed a new one. Don't take it as they don't know you.

Just keep on giving slightly vague answers: "I've been too busy, haven't had time to play it, etc."
There's no way you can give it back to them or return it without hurting someone's feelings, so since they asked you ahead of time and you told them you weren't spending your free time on games right now, then they were taking a risk that it was a waste of their money by giving you that gift.

They still chose to give it to you, so they must like you and were hoping you would change your mind.

Invite them over to play it once in a while. Do not feel bad that you are not using it. They chose to give it to you, and now you have a really great toy for guests to use when they visit you!

In my opinion, you should simply explain to them that you just don't have enough time to play it as much as they'd like you to. Hopefully they'll understand and let it go...but don't feel bad, it's not your fault that they didn't heed your suggestions for what not to get you as a gift.
