HTML (HyperText Markup Language) is the predominant markup language for the creation of web pages.
HTML can also describe, to some degree, the appearance and semantics of a document, and can include embedded scripting language code which can affect the behavior of web browsers and other HTML processors.
HTML documents can be delivered by the same means as any other computer file; however, HTML documents are most often delivered in one of the following two forms: Over HTTP servers and through email.

This a code that the Web-Browser read to show what you see on the internet. NotePad is a Basic HTML Editor and you can type in code and save as an .html Document though you type this in as it will not show in the drop down.
On this page, up top see View on your Web-Browser between Edit and Favorites? Click and then click Source and you see the HTML code. Well at least some of it, as many Web-Sites protect their code nowdays. But, Scroll down and look.
Took me a while but here I am in the code;
a title="View snagelfritz's Profile" href="/my/profile;_ylt
I could not put it all but, there I am, in the "Matrix" LOL!

HTML is used as a foundation to building websites. Some websites use all HTML, some use CSS in addition to define colors, fonts, style, and layout of the website.
