I would want the world government to act more like the Supreme Court, where there is a head, but any decisions would be made by a majority vote over 1 persons decision
I would probably try to leave religious leaders out of it as much as possible.
Head:
Nelson Mandela (Nobel Laureate and former President of South Africa)
Other Members:
1. Jimmy Carter (Nobel Laureate and former U.S. President)
2. Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf (President of Liberia)
3. Pat Buchanan (Conservative Presidential Adviser)
4. Norman Borlaug (Nobel Laureate and developer of genetically modified dwarf wheat)
5. King Abdullah II (King of Jordan)
6. Muhammad Yunus (2006 Nobel Laureate)
7. Roméo Dallaire (Former General of UN Peace Keeping forces in Rwanda)
8. Bill Gates (Business Leader and Philanthropist)
9. Oprah Winfrey (Business Leader)
10.Dr. Jocelyn Elders (Former U.S. Surgeon General)
11.Colin Powell (Former U.S. General and Secretary of State)
12. Jaime Escalante (Professor/Teacher and Subject of the movie Stand and Deliver)

It would never work. Kofi Annan was an embezzeler of UN funds, along with his son. Mandela is too old. Queen Rania, while she is extremely beautiful, has little leadership skills. Bono should stick with U2, Winfrey? You got to be kidding. Jolie? Maybe with UNICEF in some form. The Pope would move himself closer to his goal of a one, world religion. That wouldn't work.
A world government is not feasible, too many interests would be at stake, there would be a vast difference in cultures, priorities, needs, etc. Even the UN doesn't function correctly for all the right reasons! Sorry, I disagree with the whole premise.

The world government you envision will be composed of some might big global corporations.
The C.E.O.'s of these giant corporations will rule the world.
This is where downsizing is going, and there is nothing that can stop a run-away train.

I would hope to be able to move to another planet. The notion of having only one government on the planet is terrifying -- if you did not like it, where could you go?

Look around at the mess they created for themselves in planet of apes.
With communication problems with misinterpretation, miscommunication, communication failures and communication break-down in not worshiping God in one new universal language and one speech in making a monkey out of themselves in their monkey suits out there in planet of apes.
