Trust them? You must be joking. Politicians are out to win favour for their own benefit to make them richer. Their greed, hatred and delusion is deeply rooted in them. Killing each other with words and action. Unwholesome thought they have; jeolousy, aversion, slandering and back stabing is always their motive. Cogitate. Empty promises they make hoping to win favour. Have ever heard they saying how they love their opponent? Heard them saying good thing about their opponent? How compassionate they have for others? They are booking castle in hell.

Because very few of them are trustworthy. Few of them really care about the nation or the country, their own interests will always come first. They won't hesitate to lie in your face to get your vote and then they turn around and break all their promises. The only times they do something useful is right before elections, when it's time for their asskissing efforts to show how good they are so that you will vote them again. My experience is that politicians are usually useless the first three years of their term and then on the election year they suddenly start trying to impress voters by doing something they should have done years ago.

Because most politicians, especially once in power, are more concerned with holding onto that power than doing the right thing because doing the right thing could sometimes lead to the loss of their position/power. They value power more than righteousness and that is a measure of their integrity.

For me it's the fact that it takes so much money for them to be elected, and they have to make so many promises to those that supply the money.

A friend of President Abraham Lincoln told an interesting story:
He said that one day as he visited Lincoln in the White house he looked deppressed and frustrated. When he asked what was wrong, Lincoln lamented that so many people who contributed to his election campaign were now asking for high level positions and other favors. He sat back and closed his eyes and said "There's too many pigs for the titts."

First they care about themselves and their image.
Second, they care about their own family
Third, they care about their money and safety
Fourth, they don't give a damn for us.
