Not really. Shortness of breath and dizzyness are real symptoms although not usually in early pregnancy. That is usually caused by the body having to work to keep the blood pressure up. If you ever faint while pregnant you should consult your doctor.

it is true. and no, it doesn't just happen on tv! please. a woman can faint/go unconcious. this is due to your cardiovascular system undergoing changes - your heart rate will go up, your hear pumps more blood per minute and the amount of blood in your body expands by 40 to 45%. now, sometimes the cardiovascular and nervous systems can adjust to these changes, however, they occasionally don't. you end up feeling lightheaded or a bit dizzy. be a bit careful standing up. in other words, standing up too quickly can make you feel dizzy. don't lie on your back during the 2nd or third trimester because your uterus can slow the circulation in your legs. eat and drink healthy foods. if you're anemic, the doctor will help you out with setting you up with prenatals. with anemia, you have fewer red blood cells to carry the oxygen to your brain and so on. that could leave you feeling pretty lightheaded. getting overheated is another thing. i ended up having this happen to me while visiting the renn fest here where i live. hot weather can make you dizzy because the heat can cause your blood vessels to dilate which lowers your blood pressure. hyperventilation from excessive exercise or even anxiety can cause you to feel faint. don't overdo on exercising. start out slowly and if you do feel lightheaded or dizzy, stop and lie down.

My sister-in-law fainted all the time with her first pregnancy. She is very small 5'7" and about 100lbs. She was anemic and when ever she went to long without eating she hit the floor. She knew she was pregnant before all the fainting started.
