Executive Privilege defined as;
The theoretical right of a President and other top officials of the executive branch to withhold information from Congress and the courts.

Everyone defending this administration and the attorney General says the president himself was never informed or is not involved in this.....so how can conversations or discussions or communications between 2 parties with the president not involved be argued as Executive priviledge when President or Vice President is not involved?

The attorney general is part of the judicial branch of government and bush advisors arent even in a position to receive executive privilege unless they involved the president.
So doesnt that exec priv arguement get tossed out the window?

Bush and his aides can use executive privilege to avoid answering specific questions, where the answers fall within the scope of the confidential communications protected by the privilege. He just can't use it as blanket immunity to block any of his aides from testifying.

Bush thinks that having to answer to Congress is the end of the world. But it's really not. And Bush isn't even being called to testify, just his aides. And they won't bring down the entire Republican party, no matter what they say. If it gets that bad, they can always assert the 5th Amend protection against self-incrimination.

As a side note, the AG is not part of the judicial branch. The DoJ is part of the executive branch, as is the AG.

That's right...take the bait.......go ahead.......bite. You liberals have been caught, weighed and photographed. You made all those promises to fix the problems if you just had a chance and here you are wasting time trying to rundown the Bush administration more and more. Well the clock is ticking and the voters that put you there are not seeing any solutions. Can't wait until '08. Fred Thompson will be president, John McCain will be vice and there will be a new republican house and senate to sit for 8 years. You liberals will have that 8 years to cry and complain about that administration.

Really I think he probably wouldve preferred to have been able to take care of this himself and probably thought it wouldnt be brought up because it was so few judges. Technically he can play this card but I think it plays a little weak and maybe he can come up with something better to smooth this over.
