I am guessing most people are going to say to get to a doctor at this point, but I just have to ask anyway.
Since Monday I have taken six home pregnancy tests. The results have been mixed.
3 x positive (ClearBlue digital = all say "pregnant") 2 x negative (1 Clearblue regular 1 first response) and 1x faint pregnant line (first response).
I know that false negatives are supposedly common and false positives aren't. The first digital test was taken Monday and the last was Thursday evening. We figured there was no way that I could not be pregnant. With a conception date of 1st March and no period to be seen, we thought it was pretty much guaranteed. Now I just have no idea.
Is the advice to go to the doctor? Is there any hope?

Go to the doc and get a BPT. That is the most accurate way to do it. False positives are rare, but they do happen.
I don't want to scare your or upset you, but your story sounds very familliar and almost textbook PCOS TTC issues. Though you don't say what days you got what on which test, I am thinking you are either VERY early into your PG or you have had a chemical pregnancy which is a very early term miscarriage. I'm so very sorry if that is the case (if you have PCOS this is very common and a PG can most likely be sustained by a prescription for Metformin or Glucophage) and I hope it all turns out well for you.
Good luck, HTH
****after your update****
I encourage you to go to your doc even more strongly now. A line, no matter how faint saying you are PG is a positive on the current HPT's. I do not claim 100% familiarity with all of them, but that is a good rule of thumb (some are more sensitive than others and can provide a + before the less sensitive ones). That said, looking at your dates of testing it makes sense that yes you were PG. You either had a false negative or a chemical pregnancy. Go to the doc and get a BPT because if you are PG and perhaps have a complication like insulin resistance or PCOS they can give you meds that will about double your chance of sustaining the pregnancy.
BTW, when I went through this (I have PCOS) and had several + and some - and went to a clinic, they just told me I wasn't PG, but in fact I had been and miscarried without the usual 'symptoms' and if I had been put on Met before that point it might have been saved. This is why I say see your doc. I would not want you to go through what I did if it can be avoided. I am not saying you will or are, just that it does happen so see your doc just in case.

There is tons of hope. You indeed have conceived.. unless you are showing signs of miscarriage, you are pregnant. If your symptoms are still strong and you are not bleeding then you're good.
Some tests are better than others and your urine concentration changes throughout the day. I would schedule a doctors appointment.. first appointment they just do a test anyway and your height weight and all that. You most likely won't even meet your doctor.. just the practitioner.
In the mean time, get a strong preg test like First Response Early, or CVS brand both are around 25/miu and take it first thing in the morning. Whether or not the line is dark or not does not matter.. if there is a line, then you are pregnant.
But personally, I think you are. Head on over to www.babycenter.com and join your birth club. Its a great place to be.
***I just went to peeonastick.com and looked up CBE.. the digital test is 25-50 MIU
The regular CBE is 50 MIU,
as you can see, the digital is much more sensitive. That would explain why you were getting the postive with that one but neg with the other. First Response is anywhere from anywhere from 25-100 depending on which one. You may have gotten the one that was 100. I would definitely say it is a possibility that out of all the tests, the CBE digital is the most sensitive. WTG.

If you read the literature that comes with your pregnancy tests you will see that the only things that usually cause false positives are fertility drugs and ovarian cysts. If you have neither of these I would say congrats you are pregnant! Also, the reason pregnancy tests are done with the first sample of the day is that the hormone that is being tested for builds up overnight and early in a pregnancy there may not be enough of that hormone in another sample to get an accurate reading from a home pregnancy test. This could explain the false negatives? And yes I would say see a doctor!

A lot of clinics offer free pregnancy testing. I would call and get it done in the office.
A simple urine test should be able to determine it. You have been testing pretty early and the tests are not sensitive yet to give you a consistent answer. It sounds like you are but either wait a week or go to the clinic and get tested.
