do you do it for no reason, or do you do it because of something they did?

no ma'am i work in the customer service field, so i know how a lot of people can be and how most of them are. I guess some people just have to be rude and crass to those of us who have chosen this field of work, maybe it makes them feel all better about the choices they have made in their life, or they feel the need to knock others down and then go off and gloat about how bad they are...... it's sad really if people would stop and think for a minute they might realize that if the person behind the counter didn't want, need or take that job, it could easily be them, their kid or even their own parents in their retirement years..

*that's why it pays to discover*

I am never 'purposefully rude or mean' to anyone. I believe in true karma. I usually treat everyone the same--the way I would like to be treated. Should a CSR (Customer Service Representative) respond in this manner, then this person is definitely in the wrong field. However, we all have had bad days and given the benefit of the doubt, I would request the CSR's immediate supervisor to handle any further communication.

I try to never be rude to people who work for the public because when I was young I worked as a waitress for a few years and it is hard work to deal with the public.

You as a public service person can try your very best but still run across people who have had bad days and they sometimes take their problems out on the service people and I try not to be one of them.

Sure sometimes it works in reverse and the customer service people act rude but I believe it is probably due to hours of putting up with rude customers.

What goes around unfortunately comes around and I try to be one that lives by the "Golden Rule" of "Try to do Unto Others as You Would Want Done Unto Them", no matter how hard it is, sometimes.

I don't get rude with people just for the pleasure of it. And even when I'm being given the run around it still takes a lot to make me get pissed. But when I do, I can be very assertive. Not rude, I'm assertive.

Never. I used to work retail and would have people blame me for things like their credit card not working even though they were over their limit. Unless, somebody was being a complete asshole to me, I wouldn't be rude. They are trying to do their job. My husband, on the other hand, is quite rude and that's why I can't go into my electric company's building without being considered dangerous.

like to employee's? not unless they were twats first
but I am indeed guilty of purposefully not being kind to customers, a lot of the time it's because they are rude or annoying

I make it a point to not be rude to anyone regardless of how they treat me. It is very hard sometimes but I have learned that it is better that way and you don't get your feathers in a tither over silly things.

Never ...do you think they love that type of work? they get crap every single day from rude selfish people...your problem was not caused by them and their employer limits their ability to make your problem right..so back the hell off of them ...being a dick to them won't solve your trouble and generally makes things worse...being firm and calm will work much better trust me...

I can't say it's mean, but when the telephone solicitors call and ask for some name that is like mine only heavily butchered... I always say "No, he is at work, may I take a message." And they always say that they will call back later...
