Okay, make sure you wash your face every morning and before bed with a cleanser that treats breakouts. I like L'Oreal Pure Zone Deep Action Cream Cleanser or Noxema Daily Cream Cleanser. Next I like to apply a primer to my skin which works as a barrier between your makeup and your skin (to prevent it from clogging your pores) and it makes your makeup go on smoother. I like Laura Mercier or Urban Decay's primer. Then apply a concealer with a concealer brush over your zits, being sure to blend well (make sure you clean the brush between uses to prevent it from spreading the acne). A really good concealer is Bobbi Brown's Blemish Cover Stick. Then apply a foundation over the concealer and the areas on your face that are red in order to even out your skin tone. I love Christian Dior's Fluide foundation (the person at the makeup counter will know which shade you are). In addition, you can have a dermatologist prescribe a mild acne medication such as Brevoxyl-4 Gel, which I find works really well. Hope this helps!

OK i had your same problem, my recommendation is that you visit the derm
Meanwhile, Alamy has a great variety of acne make up products called clear complexion. They have a concealer that not only hides the pimple but dries them. The powder and the foundation also work on your pimples and your face wont look oily at all. it worked like magic for me.

it is also very very important that you wash your face twice a day (not to often cause if you over clean it, it would end up to dry, your body would produce more oil to compensate and it will turn worse.

You can find these products @ Walgreen's or any dep store there like 7 bucks each. Neutrogina also has some products but i recommend Almay

I will repeat what I just said to another - you would not put paint on a car that had a surface that was all pitted and rusted - putting makeup on zits is not good Here is what to do to help - get yourself some zinc tablets and take one a day (approximately 25mgs is all you need) Drink plenty of good old fashioned water and pay attention to your diet -eat fresh fruit and vegetables, lean protein and grainy breads and cereals and less sugary and fatty takeaways - in two weeks you will notice a big difference - then you can go get your make up but don't forget to clean your skin thoroughly and take it off at the end of the day

I'm 27 and I have suffered from acne since high school. The only cosmetic I have used that has not irritated my skin is Bare Minerals (you can order online or through ebay/Sephora). You do not want to do anything to irritate your face...which includes over washing or picking at your face. See a dermatologist. I've used numerous Rx (including Accutane, Retin-A, Proactive, Differin, various antibiotics), if you have the money, get glycolic peels at a Dr. office (not at a salon). These will set you back $130 each time. You have to get 1 every month for 6 months, then a follow up peel every few months. This has been the only really effective and gentle (not super drying and it doesn't f-ck with your hormones) treatment that I have used.

Hi! I can relate to your problem, i have conquered my fears about pimples and acne, because i have suffered with that since i was 1st year highschool and i'm 24 now.
You my contact me on a separate advice for pimples.
But for the ake-up concern, are you an asian?
I have brought a lot of cosmetics and it might cost a million i think, :)
There are asian make-up products fit for asian people: Clinique, in-to-it, Sheseido, just ask also the saleslady. Others are european: maybellin, maxfactor, revlon, laura mercier, which are specifically created for non-asian skin. It may fit their climates, so definitely, it my not be a good product for you.
I am a filipina and i'm sticking to asian brands.
Sheseido is the best pressed powder. I'm using sheseido poreless foundation/pressed poweder in one P1850. My eyeshadows (light pink/bron)P245 and eyebrows (kaki/grey shades) P319 and in-2-it. they're great aside from being inexpensive.
Never use oil based concealer: like VOV and cinema secrets (before I've tried cinema secrets and it best hides blemishes but i'm oily) so I shifted to laura mercier P1450 concealer (this time it's alright to use this concealer even if it's not asian because this is the only concealer I know that hides my blemishes well, aside from not clogging my pores, combine it with fanny serrano P250 brush applicator.

concealer first before the pressed powder. products i've suggested are natural looking enough when applied. If you have money then stick to sheseido concealer/base makeup so you use just one brand P2900 for the base.

Just few more tips, avoid preaking your own pimples to prevent scars and red spots.

contact me for my suggestions on overcoming pimples. I don't have them now anymore.

Makeup often CLOGS your pores, making more pimples.

Pick up a good acne face wash (such as Neutrogena's Oil-Free Face Wash) that has salicylic acid in it. It'll say it on the back of the bottle.

Wash your face 2 times a day with it and apply a spot treatment directly on the pimples. You can get this also. It usually comes in small tubes. You put it on AFTER you wash your face.

Good luck!

Right now my skin is perfectly clear, for the first time in 3 years. It's been about 9 weeks and all my acne is gone. It is such a great feeling to wake up with clear skin.

I use almay clear complexion make up. When I get a zit I dab on some green concealer on with my ring finger. Then I put foundation on, then concealer ..one that matches your skin tone, then transparent powder on top of all that. Gosh that sounds like a lot.

You need to get rid of the pimples. See a dermotologist to clear it up. Then you can wear any makeup you want on beautiful clear skin. You may not even need it.:)
In the mean time, use only oil free foundations. Clinique has great foundations that are oil free and cover well.
