I think I'd be able to move past it when presented with clear proof that my friend had moved on to greener pastures and was happily involved with someone else.
Consider the possibility that your boyfriend knows things about his friend that you don't, and let it go.

One thing you could try is to get them to talk, and try to not be around them when they do talk (guys talk differently when women are around, especially the women they would have been talking about). If your boyfriend's friend really did have a crush on you this could cause more dislike by your boyfriend, but at least your boyfriend would know exactly what is going on instead of speculating. Once the truth is out in the open it is possible that your boyfriend would more readily forgive.
Also, it is possible that you boyfriend's friend didn't have a crush on you at all. Then the talking would help the situtation a lot.
Either way, having them talk will help more than just having you boyfriend stew over his uncertainty.

I can't say what I would do if I was in your B/F shoes as I would never lose a life long friend because I thought they had a crush on my b/f or g/f.
If I were in your shoes, I would worry about what kind of man I had - jealous, controlling, manipulative and he doesn't value people - because what he did with that friend indicate all of those character traits to me.

the friend probably told your boyfriend that he had a crush on you maybe coz he thot yu guys were not serious abt each other. that can hurt so much to your boyfriend. He needs time to calm down. do not pressure him to talk to his friend otherwise he will end up thinking yu had something going on with the friend. He probably is killing time so the friend's thoughts may fade away. be on his side though your boyfriend of course

Each of us has to deal with our own demons. Tell your boyfriend about all the guys who've had a crush on you over the years, you're so beautiful, intelligent, sexy the number must be in the hundreds. Is your bf going to ban all of them from his life? He should be thankful so many others validate his choice of girlfriends.

I happen to agree with your boyfriend. I would choose to avoid him as well. He can't be much of a friend if he has made it clear that he likes you.
Another thing to consider is that your boyfriend knows this fellow pretty well and might have concerns you are not aware of.

are you feeling sorry for your boyfriend and his friend or you are feeling more sorry for yourself for not having big group fun!How would you react if your best friend admitted to have a crush on your boyfriend. Will u be as comfortable "HANGING around as a big group" with her AND your boyfriend without thinking whats going on in their head?
Your reason to make them friends again is not all selfless...its more to make YOU feel good.

I would get over it. it sounds like your man is insecure and feels like you will leave him for this guy. just make sure you let your man know you love him and only him and its healthy for him to have friendships with other men and not just be around you. a crush is a crush, we've all had them from time to time but he needs to get over it. it was along time ago. good luck

I learned that you cant change someone or their views/thoughts...so I wouldnt try and fix/force him to make up with his friend if he isnt wanting to or ready to...let him do it in his own time and when he's comfortable with it. he may never be...but for whatever rzn he thinks he bes bud is crushing on you-it only shows he cares abt u and doesnt wanna lose you...you gotta let ur bf handle it on his own tho...maybe he'll come around...

You need to stay out of it and let him work it out with friend!
Not all friendship last forever, and your boyfriend might have been told something about his friend that you don't know about!
