My ex-girlfriend has been having pregnancy symptoms. She took 4 pregnancy test and the first 2 came up positive and the other 2 came up negative. She hasnt had her period since we have broke up and that has been a little over a month. Could it be just stress or is she really pregnant.

I'm guessing that this isn't the answer you want, but those tests are pretty darned good. It's easy to get a false negative, but a positive? The way the tests work, that's not going to happen. If you care about her and/or the baby, help her to get to a doctor. She needs to know some things, and she needs to start taking some prenatal vitamins. The doctor will do either a blood test or a test very similar to the ones she's already done to confirm it.

Take a deep breath - you're on your way to an entirely different (and wonderful!) life!

My advice? Assuming she doesn't terminate, the two of you are going to be in a relationship of sorts for a good twenty years. Get some counselling. Ask your doctor (or hers) if there are any relationship counsellors you could see. I'm not necessarily talking about getting back together - just about learning to work with each other, support each other as co-parents.

It could be that she tested very early in the pregnancy and some of the tests were stronger than the others and taken at different times. Urine has to be very concentrated on certain weaker tests, meaning she wouldve had to hold it for a long time before she actually tested. Since she had the two positive tests, that means that conception had occured.

The two negative tests could also mean that she was having an early miscarriage, but if that were the case, she would have a lack of pregnancy symptoms or a decrease in them and she would start bleeding. Because she still have strong symptoms and no bleeding, I would say she probably just had a bad test and is in fact pregnant.

This is a very stressful time for you and her both, but please keep in mind that her hormones are going crazy and she may say and do things she really doesn't mean. I hope for the sake of your child that you two can work out your differences and atleast agree to be good parents, even if you aren't a couple.

Congrats.

I would take her to the doctor or health department. The health department will do pregnancy, most times for free. Make sure you let her know you will be there for her if she is. She might not be telling because she might not want you to know if she is.

However, I took EPT test. (I'm on my fifth pregnancy right now) and each time I tried EPT it never worked for me. The lines wouldn't appear or something would go wrong with the test.

If there is a little one on the way there are plenty of places that help pregnant women. I honestly would just go to the docs with her and see what he says. It does sound like pregnancy if two test came out positive and no period......

It could really be both, but one thing that worries me is the fact that the first 2 tests she took were positive and later on the later 2 were negative. That leads me to think of a miscarriage, and that the HCG levels (the hormone that produces when you fall pregnant, and is what the tests reads to get the results) have since dropped back down. The best thing for her to do is go to a doctor and get herself checked out. If she doesnt feel comfortable going to the doctor she can go to a family clinic or somewhere like that and they will test her there! all the best, i hope all works out for you both :)

Go with her to a dr, sometimes, home pregnancy tests, can do that, and you can be pregnant, sometimes at the start you are and then you no longer are pregnant and it will then come back as a negative. its also possible that she is stressed, to be sure have a blood test, and you will then both know what you are dealing with. good luck.

stress does have an effect on the lack of a period, however, for the two pregnancy tests, it is not common. first off, since she's taken four pregnancy tests, she needs to go to the doctor to be check to see if she truly is. that's all there is to it. take her to the doc, get checked up, and if she is, decide what you want to do. if not, be more careful next time. :)

Ok it could be jsut stress or she may actually be pregnant. The best thing would be to go to the doctors and get a pregnancy test through a blood sample because they tend to be more acurate...If she's not pregnant, it may also be good to check why her period is late as well.. Goodluck to you if you are a dad-to-be

Take her for a blood test. Get the results together. If you are having a baby then it is best to know at the same time so you can make plans even if you are not together as a couple.. you both will be parents.

As a Doula 2 that say yes would be enough to warrant a blood test.

she could be pregnant. she could also just be stressed.

just a thought, but could she just be saying that shes having pregnancy symptoms (and did you actually see the positive tests?) just to keep you hanging on, like not wanting to let go of you. ive known girls who have done that, not a nice thing to do but they were desperate and desperate times call for desperate measures, i mean breaking up is hard!

also, theres supposed to be no such thing as a false positive, only a false negative. i say tell her to go to the doctor, maybe even go too.. just to know for sure.........

I'm not sure why two would be positive and two would be negative. Stress can play havoc on the cycle, so I GUESS that she could be so stressed as to not have a period.

If you're really worried about it, have her go to the doctor and get a blood test. That'll tell you for sure.
