the cubs defiantly look like a playoff contender this year. If they manage to keep their rotation strong and make sure that Ted Lilly, Jason Marquis, Rich Hill, and Mark Prior don't have to mention Zambrano because he knows what he is doing, but for the others all of them need to keep off the DL mainly just one (Prior) and gain confidence of cubs fans this year from last season. your line-up is great with power hitters and all round hitters on that team most likely to get to the playoffs
Just one thing, please kick some White Sox a** Cubs are the true Chicago team and I am a Los Angeles Dodger Fan, but respect the cubs history and line-up of today.

1) The Cubs pitching is sub-par. I laughed when someone mentioned Prior and Marquis. One is a headcase, the other had the worst E.R.A. for a starting pitcher last year. Not a strong staff at all.
2) Soriano is one player. He is a bad defensive player. So is Jones and Murton. They will hurt this year in the defense department.
3) You respect the Cubs history? What part?? They have not won anything in 100 years. Look at how many back to back winning seasons they have had. You respect losing?
I am not trying to bash the Cubs, but they simply are not that great. Last year they lost 100 games! They will not go worst to first.

It's not just Soriano. They upgraded with a good skipper in Lou Piniella and in other areas.
Not ready to call the champs just yet but they will have a much better record than last year.

Well, it could be the year they make the playoffs since NL Central is so weak... BUT you need pitching to win in the playoffs. They've added 2 mediocre starters and the bullpen is still weak.
This will never happen, but IF Wood were healthy and could close AND Prior became dominant again, they have a shot at the championship. Good luck.

That seems to be the general plan, yes.
And I'd love to see a repeat of the 1907 World Series, this time with different results.

I predict .....................5th place. If Zambrano could pitch 3 times a week then they'd be a contender. They remind me of the Texas Rangers a few years back when they signed A-Rod to be their savior and finished in last place. The Cardinals, Astros, Reds and possibly the Brewers will finish ahead of them. Well, there's always the Pirates to look forward to. Poor Cubs.
