I'm very glad that there are none - that I've seen - but I just wonder why. No seagulls either. How nice.

Laika - I live in Las Pinas ... no pigeons! None! Which is just fine and dandy, as they are very messy.
Manila - never seen a pigeon there.
Intramuros - same.
You ate 'em all???
Not a bird-watcher at all.

You must be kidding.
It's because there are just particular areas that you can see & some some areas you cannot find them. I suggest you go to those places who have a lots of pigeons. Good luck. (--,)

Actually, there are lot of bird species in the Philippines. Most especially during the winter time in other countries, Philippines is the best place for them to migrate because of the great weather. You probably hasn't seem them in the city because there's not a lot of trees and places in the city where they could get fed.

Here in America, you'll find birds everywhere even in the city because some people who are bird lovers put a bird feed outside their house which attracts birds and as well squirrels.

There are 577 species

185 endemic species
88 endangered species, including 60 endemics
39 speciality species of Philippine birds.

Actually, there are a lot. You just probably didn't see.

ASide from pigeons, the Philippines has a diverse community of birds who regularly live here, or just visit (from other colder places during winter). You might want to try at Baywalk or Manila Bay for some bird watching.

Pigeons are the Pork of meat.

I had the less fortunate experience of eating pigeon while in Korea, by accident. I was told it was Chicken "Chiggen" on a stick... They must have meant "Pigeon" on a stick! I had it bbq'd on a skewer! Funny thing is, it was pretty good. Not sure how healthy it is for you though!

laika is correct we've got pigeons in the philippines even in manila, you could see a few. maybe you're referring to another type of pigeon? but we're pretty sure they're called pigeons. they've got white and gray colors. and they are being sold too in the markets.

Pigeons are larger than doves, though ordinarily both species are so named interchangeably.
I have two aviaries and one is for my white doves. I sell them to couples getting married at P500.00 per pair only.
