I dont want to buy so many different kinds of foundation and different colors and be unhappy with them. Then I would also be unhappy with how much I just spent on something that didnt work out for me. Any advice?

go to a place like sephora and/or ulta. ask them for samples. you could also try a department store and ask the girls behind the counters to either provide you with samples or test different foundations on your face. shop around :-) i know buying foundation is hell. especially cause i'm dark and no one seems to carry the right color. good luck.

You first need to decide about the company such as Estee Lauder, Clarin, Elizabeth Arden and many others. When you go to the counter then ask the receptionist that you wanted to test so that you can find the right shade for you. Receptionist will in fact help you to try different shades and decide the right shade for you.

Go to the makup counters at Macys or high end retail store, and ask someone to help you find the right foundation and shade for your skin. Ask for samples to see if you like it.
