Tell her nicely that you will return the $12, and even though that the friendship has ended, the remarks still hurt. She is just saying something spiteful. People make remarks when they are angry, but that doesn't mean that they mean what they say.

Just return the $12, and even if she doesn't return the jacket. At least you don't owe her anything and could face your conscience.

She lost a friend and $12.
You lost a friend and your jacket.
You both lost something - so you are even.

You are right - she had responsibility to give your jacket only back to you - she didn't so you should be entitled to use the $12 to replace that jacket.

Let it go and take it as a lesson.

Best wishes.

Ig this friend is important to you then you need to foget the $12...as or the jacket, file a police report, it is considered "receipt of stolen property" and in the end you will get your jacket back!
GOOD LUCK!

In life, we need to learn to let go inorder to be happier. If me, I will pay her the $12 and treat it as a tuition fee to know a person better. Sometime we give to a begger more than $12, so why make yourself depressed over that.

Tell her you gave her money to someone you don't know.

You are absolutely right, when she returns your property, you return hers. In the meantime, ignore her temper tantrums. She is acting like a spoilt brat.

Are you curious or desperate ? sweetie ... "No te ahogues en un vaso de agua" means don't worry about little things... send her a check and move forward. If you don't want any relationship with her cut any possibility to be in contact with her. Your tranquility is priceless.
